If you have attic space in your home, don’t let it go to waste. You can create a unique looking bedroom if you manage to clear out all of those boxes that you’re storing up there! Use the following tips to set up a bedroom in your attic space.

  • Use Light Colors – Because most attic spaces have very few light sources, it’s a good idea to use lighter colors. This will not only help brighten up the space, it will make the space seem larger.
  • Use Different Shades – Many attics are slightly elongated since they stretch across the home. This gives it a skinny feeling. By making the shorter walls darker than the longer walls you can visually even out the dimensions.
  • Use Knee Walls – Make use of the areas where the low walls join to a slanted roof line by placing furniture such as beds or chairs in these spots.
  • Use Windows – Most attic spaces will only have one or two windows. Make use of them by placing a desk or bed opposite the window.
